67. Al-Ahad – Uniquely One

Suggests a drop of existence ---
'Only uniqueness is success' WH Auden

Down's before Birth
If you could change this life
for a real one,
- say - with a fuller story
in which you have a new handle
marauding through a spanking world
maybe in a place more lost
- would you go?

And how would you feel about your new life?

Imagine you’re ready,
standing moments before birth
in pounding rain
shivering with all anticipation
and calmly
turning down your little dial of mind
to nothing – wanderer -
with such a lot to give:
perhaps it’s not so dark and cold
as you fight your way into a sweeter handicap;
rebirth
as fool, magician, simple creature, king.

Prime
Wobble to the bathroom mirror,
slippers on formica tiles,
(older than they ever were)
stained a little, thin,

look on, and in, there for a hope of
stars or suns and galaxies
more light-years than pronounceable
and way beyond any dancing dust

but, no, I see a face;
misty in the silver, glass,
ancient as my father, yes,
fading now but, yes, with eyes
(retinas and irises)
burning as a facet.

  3. Thanks for your poetic blessings and divine thoughts. For, caring enough about deeply praising our God to abundantly work out your own expressions of praise of our God contained in these poems.
May God lift up his face upon the face you see/saw in that mirrort
